Viking Torgil was built specifically for the Douro, whose five locks impose hard limits on length and beam that a Longship cannot meet.
At 79 metres and 106 guests she is roughly half the capacity of a Longship, and excursion groups in the Douro Valley quintas are correspondingly smaller.
She carries a plunge pool on the sun deck — a rarity in the Viking fleet and a genuine benefit in Portuguese summer heat.
Itineraries run round-trip from Porto through the Douro Valley to Vega de Terrón, with a land extension to Salamanca.
Cabin grades mirror the Longship ladder in miniature, with French-balcony and veranda staterooms and two larger suites forward.
