    Viking River Cruises

The scale player in river cruising — adults-only, culture-led and standardised across more than 80 near-identical Longships.

    Introduced
    2014
    Gross tonnage
    ~2,300 GT
    Capacity
    106 guests

The Douro's five locks impose hard limits on length and beam, so Viking built a separate class for Portugal rather than adapting the Longship.

At 106 guests these are the smallest ships in the European fleet, and the reduced passenger count shows in the tender operation ashore and in the size of excursion groups in the Douro Valley quintas.

Unusually for Viking, the class carries a small plunge pool on the sun deck — a concession to Portuguese summer temperatures rather than a change of philosophy.

Cabins follow the Longship ladder in miniature, with French-balcony and veranda grades and a pair of larger suites at the bow.
