The Aquavit Terrace is the single design idea that most distinguishes a Longship from the ships it replaced. The forward lounge is fully glazed and its front retracts, so indoor seating becomes an open terrace at the bow.
At breakfast and lunch it serves a lighter buffet and made-to-order dishes; at dinner it offers a smaller à la carte menu as an alternative to the Restaurant, with no supplement and no reservation required.
The forward position matters on scenic stretches — the Rhine Gorge, the Wachau and the Iron Gates are all best watched from here rather than from the sun deck.
Seating is limited relative to the ship's 190 guests, so at peak dinner times it operates on a first-come basis.
Dress is casual throughout, and the terrace is the default venue for the early-riser coffee service and the late-afternoon cake and tea.
