TUI's river proposition is packaging rather than product. The line sells the same way it sells a beach holiday — one price from a UK airport, with the extras that other river lines itemise already inside it.
Included: return flights from a choice of UK regional airports, coach transfers at both ends, all onboard meals, an all-inclusive drinks offer covering house wines, beers, spirits and soft drinks, one excursion per port and gratuities.
Excluded: premium spirits and champagne outside the standard list, optional premium excursions, spa treatments and travel insurance.
The practical effect is comparability. Where a Viking or AmaWaterways fare needs flights, a drinks package and gratuities added before it can be compared, TUI's headline price is close to the final number.
Booking is through TUI's high-street shops, call centre and website, and the package is ATOL-protected as a single contract rather than as separate cruise and flight bookings.
