Seabourn has spent nearly four decades refining the same formula: small all-suite ships, no queues, an unusually high crew ratio and a bar bill that never arrives. Carnival Corporation has owned the brand since 1998 and has left the product almost entirely alone.
About Seabourn
The core ocean fleet is three 458-guest Odyssey-class ships and two 600-guest Encore-class ships, all all-suite and almost entirely all-balcony. Two purpose-built expedition ships, Seabourn Venture and Seabourn Pursuit, carry 264 guests each with submersibles and a 24-strong expedition team.
Drinks are open across the ship at all hours with no package to buy — the single most-cited reason guests stay loyal. Gratuities are included, and caviar is served on request wherever a guest happens to be sitting, including in the water at the marina.
Dining is led by a long-standing partnership with Thomas Keller: The Grill by Thomas Keller is a fixed-menu American chophouse on the ocean fleet, and Keller-developed dishes appear in the main restaurant.
Seabourn's differentiator ashore is the Ventures by Seabourn programme — kayak and Zodiac excursions led by the expedition team, offered even on conventional itineraries in Norway, Alaska and the Mediterranean.
