MedallionClass is the most useful piece of operational technology in mainstream cruising. A quarter-sized Bluetooth wearable replaces the keycard and turns the ship into a location-aware hotel.
The Medallion is posted to you before the cruise or collected at the terminal. It unlocks your stateroom door as you approach, handles embarkation touchlessly, and acts as your onboard payment method.
The genuinely useful functions are OceanNow, which delivers food and drink to your location anywhere on board, and the shipmate locator, which finds your travelling party on a deck plan — the single best fix for the classic problem of losing people on a 4,000-guest ship.
The companion app handles dining reservations, excursion bookings, entertainment schedules, folio checks and stateroom service requests, which materially reduces queueing at guest services.
