Zaandam entered service in May 2000 as the R-class sister to Volendam. She operates a San Diego-based Mexican Riviera and Panama Canal season in winter and Vancouver-based Alaska programmes in summer.
Zaandam is HAL's most consistently deployed West Coast ship after Koningsdam and the smallest ship in the current fleet after Volendam.
Her mid-size footprint gives her access to Alaska's smaller ports including Icy Strait Point, Sitka anchorage, and Wrangell.
