Nieuw Amsterdam entered service in July 2010 as the second Signature-class ship. She operates a Vancouver-based Alaska summer season and Fort Lauderdale-based Caribbean sailings in winter.

Nieuw Amsterdam completed a major mid-life refurbishment that brought Music Walk, Rolling Stone Rock Room, and updated Pinnacle Grill and Tamarind restaurants in line with the newer Pinnacle-class ships.

She is one of HAL's most consistently deployed Alaska ships and the sweet spot for guests who want the modern HAL product without the Pinnacle-class scale.
