The Explora class was designed from a blank sheet at Fincantieri Monfalcone, with a brief to maximise outdoor space per guest and eliminate inside accommodation entirely.
Every one of the 461 suites, penthouses and residences has a private ocean-front terrace, and the entry grade is a genuine 35-square-metre suite.
Nine dining venues, four pools including an indoor pool under a retractable roof, and a 1,000-square-metre spa give a facility list closer to a premium ship than a luxury one, spread across a guest count barely half the size.
Two further LNG-powered ships are on order, taking the class to six vessels by the end of the decade.
