The pool is Emerald's clearest engineering statement and the feature most often cited by guests choosing it over Viking or Avalon, neither of which offers a swimmable pool on European river ships.
The pool sits aft on the Horizon Deck, heated year-round and enclosed by a retractable glass roof, so it is usable in April and in the Christmas market season as well as in high summer.
In the evening a floor is winched over the water to convert the space into a cinema, with a screen, seating and a bar service.
A swim-up bar operates in warm weather, and the surrounding terrace is the ship's main outdoor social space.
It is included in the fare in full; only bar drinks outside the included lunch and dinner service are charged.
