Queen Mary 2 is the last true ocean liner: deeper draught, heavier plating and a finer bow than any cruise ship, built in 2004 specifically for scheduled winter North Atlantic service.
She runs the seven-night Southampton to New York crossing from spring to late autumn, plus an annual world voyage in the winter and occasional Norwegian fjords and Caribbean programmes.
Onboard she carries the only planetarium at sea, the largest library afloat, a proper ballroom with resident dance hosts, kennels for the transatlantic dog trade, and the graded Britannia, Britannia Club, Princess Grill and Queens Grill restaurants.
