Azamara sells time in port rather than facilities at sea. Its four near-identical 700-guest ships are small enough to berth centrally, and itineraries are built around late departures and overnight stays that let guests keep a city after dark.
About Azamara
The fleet is four R-class ships built at Chantiers de l'Atlantique between 1998 and 2001 — Azamara Journey, Quest, Pursuit and Onward. They are modest by modern standards at around 30,000 GT, and the brand does not pretend otherwise: the ships are a vehicle for the itinerary.
More than half of all Azamara voyages include at least one overnight in port, and many include two or three. Late departures after 10pm are standard, which unlocks opera in Verona, dinner in Ephesus and evening markets in Kotor.
AzAmazing Evenings are the brand's signature: a complimentary, exclusively chartered cultural event ashore on most voyages — a private concert in a cathedral, a folk performance in a village square — included in the fare.
Inclusivity sits mid-field. Standard fares include selected wine, beer and spirits, bottled water, soft drinks, gratuities, self-service laundry and shuttle transport to town. Speciality dining, premium spirits and shore excursions cost extra.
