    AmaWaterways

The active, food-led river line — daily guided cycling and hiking, a Chaîne des Rôtisseurs dining programme and the twin-hull AmaMagna.

    Introduced
    2019
    Gross tonnage
    ~4,800 GT
    Capacity
    196 guests

AmaMagna is the most significant piece of river ship design since the Longship. At roughly 22 metres of beam she is about twice the width of a conventional Danube vessel, which is possible only because the Danube's locks are wider than the Rhine's.

The extra beam went into space rather than capacity: she carries 196 guests where a same-length conventional ship would carry 300, and around half the accommodation is a suite of 33 square metres or more.

The public rooms are unmatched on a river. Four dining venues, a full gym and wellness studio, a sun-deck pool, a Zen wellness area and a stern water-sports platform with a Sundowner boat for skiff excursions.

The constraint is deployment: her beam restricts her to the Danube, so she cannot be repositioned to the Rhine or the Seine when demand shifts.
